8 Unique Ways To Discover The Country You’re Visiting

8 Unique Ways To Discover The Country You're Visiting

If you’re visiting a brand new country, you probably want to drink it all up as much as you possibly can on your travels. However, most people leave their trip feeling disappointed with the amount of exploring they did – did they really discover the true insert country here?

The key to have a great time and exploring a new place is to live in the moment. Be spontaneous, don’t stick to rigidly to a plan. When you live in the moment, you’re far more likely to take in amazing, brand new things that make you go ‘wow!’. Worry too much about missing these things and you will probably miss them, go figure.

If you want to explore the country you’re visiting in a unique way, here are 8 ideas!

Take A Tour Guided By A Local

Look up local tours and see if you can find one guided by a local. They will take you to lesser known places in the area, and may even be able to give you better information than a tour guide that has simply been hired from elsewhere.

Take A Bike Tour

Exploring a new place on bike can be a lot of fun. You can explore in a shorter time frame, while still taking everything in. You’ll stay fit too. Plenty of places hire bikes out, you just need to make sure you understand the rules of the place you’re visiting, and return the bike when specified.

Hire A Helicopter

Helicopter rides can be expensive, yes, but they can be a once in a lifetime experience that allow you to see things from a whole new perspective.

Explore The Sea Life

Why would you just want to explore land when you’re in a new country? Explore the sea life too! Marine life can be absolutely incredible; it’s like looking at a whole new world underwater. You can do this by snorkeling or diving, but if that’s not your thing, you can explore just as well on a glass bottom boat. Glass bottom boats are a great idea for families too, as kids can see some incredible things without having to actually go in the water.

Go Where Others Don’t

Why not go off the beaten track in your new country? This doesn’t mean you should start taking risks and doing silly things, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with avoiding tourist hot spots and seeing where the wind takes you.

Speak To The Locals

If you can, why not speak to the locals and ask them for recommendations on where to go? They will likely be able to give you some real hidden gem suggestions!

Choose A Theme

Choosing a theme for the day can be another great way to discover the country you’re visiting. You could go for cafe hopping, art galleries, animals, or choose a water based theme. The world is your oyster!

Join A Meet Up Group

Why not look for hobby clubs and established meet up groups? These types of groups are easily found online and pretty much always welcome curious newcomers.

How will you explore and discover the new country you’re visiting?
