Make Moving Easier

Make Moving Easier

Moving home does not have to be as stressful as you may think. The key is to be organised about the whole event, but that is sometimes easier said than done. You need to try and avoid making last-minute arrangements, as removal companies get booked up very quickly.  Wherever possible, allow 4 – 8 weeks to get everything in order, and make yourself a checklist so that you do not forget something important.

Dispose Of Things You Do Not Need

When you start to go through wardrobes and drawers, you may be surprised by how many electrical items and how much clothing you have that is never used. Rather than taking all this clutter to your new home you should donate it to a charity that will find a new home for it. There are so many people in need of things that they have no trouble placing them or selling them and using the funds for the good of others.

You should start your packing well in advance of the move to avoid a last-minute rush where everything gets thrown in.

If you made the first step of finding your new home simpler by using something like Phone Homes, you do not now want to make it more stressful than it needs to be. It doesn’t need to be difficult at all!

Arrange For Professional Help

It does not matter if you are moving to a property down the street or to the other side of the country. The whole process will be much easier if you enlist the help of professional removal experts. They will know what size vehicle is needed and be able to advise you on the best way to make your move run smoothly.

People often underestimate how much furniture they have in their home and some of it can be heavy. The experts will know the right way to lift it without causing any damage to the piece or to themselves.

Pack Some Essentials Separately

Delays can happen that are no one’s fault. A road could be blocked off for hours because of an accident, for instance, and then your belongings may arrive late. A few essentials taken separately with you can save the day. Clean underwear and a change of clothes is a good start and perhaps some drinks and snacks so that you do not get hungry or thirsty while you are waiting.

There is no doubt that when the removal van arrives, the drivers and their helpers would welcome a snack and drink as well.

Don’t Forget The Kids

Moving day will be long, hard work and very boring for children. See if they can stay with a friend or relative overnight so that they do not have to go through the hassle. It will also save you from getting stressed over occupying them and keeping them safe.

Tell Everyone

Make sure that you let the utility companies, phone and Internet providers and anyone else that needs to know the date of your move and your new address. These people sometimes need weeks of notice to arrange installations and the sooner you let them know the better.

At the end of the day, when you and your family go to sleep for the first time in your new home, you will be pleased it is over with and now all you will need to do is start getting you new residence into order.
