The new Moody Girls Pastel Hair Colours caught my eye in terms of packaging and the shades available. As someone who, during a mid-life crisis, discovered the joy of having pink hair, instead of the stock standard, north shore mum blonde highlights, I was excited when I saw this product. I discovered that having light rose coloured hair made my eyes look bluer and actually suited myskin tone, rather than the brassy shade my hair lightlights throw when lightened.
I am now always on the lookout for new temporary tints to tone my blonde locks to the perfect pale rose gold.
Normally I’d leave this toning to my lovely hairdresser/colourist Ella Levy, however the pink fads so quickly, I top it up with a tony bit in the shower mixed with conditioner, so I don’t end up looking like Frenchy from Grease. I don’t ant hot pink hair, just a faded pastel warm pink and it’s a challenge. Most hair dressers shudder when their client turns up with home tinted hair, but in the case of this range, the perfect pastel shade is easy to achieve at home in between hairdresser visits.

Road Testing
Now I haven’t road tested the Moody Girls but will contact them for a sample of Lovely Dovey. These shades look a lot better than some of the other alternatives I have experimented with. The best one I have found that I have tried, is the Schwarzkopf Live Colour Metallic Rosé Gold which is 50% of this month at Priceline.
My second choice, is to mix L’oreal Paris Colorista Washout Pink Hair with the Peach shade, in the shower and use as a conditioner in the shower. If you leave it on too long the colour grabs so rinse out after a few minutes of being on wet hair (unless you want strong hair colour).
It’s all temporary so takes the worry out of hair colour, BUT and this is important, the blue and green shades, according to my hairdresser Ella Levy, grab and take forever to come out, so if you are wanting to look like a mermaid for the weekend and go back to your normal hair colour, head for a hair chalk or spray, not a rinse.
