Caravan Holidays: The Pros And Cons

caravan holidays

If you’re sick and tired of the usual holidays that you take with your family, it might be time to look for something a little different. If you’ve ever considered going on a caravan holiday, now might be the time to look at that idea a little more closely. They’re getting more and more popular – and here are some pros and cons…

PRO: Good for Family Adventure

Finding good family adventures can be challenging, especially when you are in a large family or younger kids. Caravan holidays are an option to consider since your family will stay safe and away from many strangers. Safety is vital for family adventures, and if a caravan park can create fun and still keep your family safe during the holiday, why should you not go for that?

It also offers comfortable and clean environments suitable for young children. This environment also enhances an excellent adventure since family members will be less worried about losing possessions. Caravan holidays can also be ideal for long adventures because of safety.

PRO: Flexibility

The best thing about going on a caravan holiday is the flexibility. The fact that you can go where you want, when you want, is fantastic for anyone who likes to follow their own rules and make their trip exactly what they want it to be. Investing in your own caravan might seem like a lot of money but in the long run you’ll find that it’s a great idea that will save you money – and storing your caravan between trips isn’t too expensive either. If you and your family tend to get bored quickly, being able to move to another caravan site means that you can take in the sights and sounds of lots of different places when you’re on your holiday.

CON: Limited space

A definite pro of going on a caravan trip is that you aren’t too limited with the luggage you can take – but a con is that you will probably be spending a lot of time in a pretty small space with your family. If it’s just you and your partner that’s fine, but if you’ve got a few kids and maybe some inlaws coming along with you, it might get a little feisty at times when you’re packed into a small space. Make sure you have some plans for days when the weather isn’t so great so you can get out of the caravan and have fun instead of staying cooped up inside together.

PRO: Taking your car

Being able to take your car on holiday feels great, particularly if you have young kids – you’ll be completely reassured that their car seats are safe and that they’re in a comfortable and familiar environment. Once you get to your campsite you’ll be able to unhook your car from your caravan, meaning that you can travel to wherever you like during the day – this means you can take trips to more far flung places where a vehicle is a necessity without having to hire a car that you aren’t familiar with.

CON: Driving

Finally, sometimes people find driving with a caravan hitched to the back of their car to be a difficult thing to do. Reversing can be tricky, so you might want to get your partner to help you back into spaces, and you need to remember that you can’t drive as fast on motorways as you would if you didn’t have a caravan. But you will find that other drivers will be aware of you, and that they will make space for you and slow down so that you can switch lanes easily. Driving with a caravan definitely gets easier with time, even if you find it initially tough.

A caravan holiday makes a great change – with its flexibility and fun, it’s something every family should try at least once!
