Smart Ways To Improve Your Smile

Smart Ways To Improve Your Smile

You may be surprised at the large number of people who do not smile properly. It can be because they are not happy with their teeth or do not like the way their smile alters their face.

Although it is usually said in jest, it is true that smiles are catching. Just try smiling at a stranger in the street, and once they realize your smile is genuine they will smile back and probably at the next person they see too.

Whatever the reason is why you hide your smile, here are a few tips to help you improve it.

Get Those Teeth Looked At

The most common reason for smiling with the mouth closed is yellowing of the teeth. This happens naturally as you age. However, it could also be that you have a couple of crooked teeth you would rather other people did not see, or that you are currently wearing a brace to straighten your teeth.

Whatever the problem with your teeth is you should seek professional help from someone such as the Bowral Street Dental Practice, as they will be able to offer you whatever treatment you need so that you are proud to show your pearly whites instead of trying to hide them.

Apart from daily brushing and flossing of your teeth, you should always have regular check-ups. This is so the dentists can find anything minor and treat it before it turns into something major.

Whether your teeth need whitening, crowns, veneers, bonding, or implants, a good dentist will be able to deal with them all.

Practice Smiling

Practice smiling your most beautifully in front of a mirror.  This will let you see the vision that pleases you the most. Does your smile look better, for instance, if your head is tilted slightly to the right or the left? Is it improved by a slight drop or lift to your head? Find the way that suits you the best and then practice it for a few minutes every day. This can take weeks of practice, but eventually, you will look in the mirror and smile the way you want to be seen straight away. Then you know you can stop hiding your smile and pass some happiness around.

Avoid Foods And Drinks That Stain

If you spill something on a table cloth such as red wine or some sort of tomato sauce, if it stains the cloth there is a good chance it will stain your teeth too. If you are out and about and eating things that stain, you will become aware of your teeth perhaps becoming red for instance.  Then you will stop smiling properly and do it with your lips closed.

Keep a small tube of toothpaste and a brush at the bottom of your purse and is this situation arises, go to the restaurant bathroom and clean your teeth before the stain has chance to dig in. Then you can return to your table beaming without any worry that your teeth are no longer white.

It really is a case of looking after your teeth and being aware of what makes them look good or bad. Then your smile will be natural and you will not be trying to hide anything.
