Are you thinking of moving property within the next couple of years and want to increase the value of your home before selling? You have come to the right place! The sooner you start trying to increase the value of your home, the easier it will be to put a plan in place and start making positive changes.

Increasing the value of your home is easily done – it comes down to how much budget you have and what changes you would like to make. Converting your garage (if you have one) can add value but is expensive, whereas tidying up your garden is more affordable but can also make a difference

Below we have put together our guide to increasing the value of your home.

Tidying up your garden

A good place to start is to tidy up your garden. More often than not, people neglect their garden even though this is an area that can add value. Have your fences tidied up, your shed painted (or installed), and adding decking can make your home more appealing. If you have any awkward trees – ones that may be affecting the amount of sunlight coming in for example – then it would be worth looking into tree removal services to have them taken down. Tidying up your garden will be more affordable than other changes that you can apply and it’s something you can start right away. Converting your garage

Do you have a garage? Converting your garage has an initial outlay but is an effective way to add value to your home. Converting it to an office, dining room, additional living room or bedroom, makes the space more useful and more desirable for potential buyers. Depending on when you are planning on selling, you can take advantage of the new space and then sell, this way you can enjoy it before you move home. Just remember, when creating new rooms, the lighting you choose is very important. It’s also important to get multiple quotes on the conversion as this will save you money.

Redecorating your interiors

A lot of people move into their new homes and never update their interiors. Updating interiors can be a pain as it involves moving all your furniture and weeks getting the work done, so we understand why it may not have been done. However, redecorating an old-looking interior is an easy win and something that can add value to your home. Repainting makes a room look fresher and whilst you are doing this, hanging pictures on the wall makes a space look bigger and adds a new dynamic to a room

What advice would you recommend to someone looking to increase the value of their home? Which of the above tips do you think is most useful? Is there anything that you think we are missing that we should add to our guide? Let us know in the comment box below. We would love to hear from you.
