I put away all any skin care that wasn’t Jurlique, and have committed to using Jurlique Nutri-Define products exclusively for 3 weeks. I am being religous with my morning and evening skin care using just the Jurlique products, 90% from the Nutri-define range, as well as any Jurlique products I already had in my anti-ageing arsenal.
I always worry when I use natural products that I am missing out on the technical benefits of advanced skin care, but I am keeping an open mind for the Jurlique Nutri-Define range, because it is the perfect balance of technology with the use of naturally based products.
Jurlique Biosome5 Technology that underpins this anti-ageing collection?
With numberous benefits, Jurlique’s patent pending Biosome5 technology, is a natural liposome.
What is a liposome?
“Liposomes serve as a delivery system directly to aging skin cells, being, by definition, a tiny bubble, made out of the same material as a cell membrane used to deliver chemicals in solutions. This ingredient was originally developed to transport drugs through the body to treat cancer and other diseases, but cosmetics companies have began using Liposomes because of their unique ability to provide cells with critical nutrients and the nourishment necessary to promote collagen production.” – Truth in Aging
How does this work as Biosome5?
This liposome delivers five active plant ingredients:
- Horseradish
- Mulberry root
- Rosemary leaf extract
- Peppermint leaf extract
- Lycogen
This aims to target the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles, to promote smoother skin, even skin tone and and firm sagging skin.
I have detailed below my skin care regime for the 30 days I am trialling the range.
My 3 Week Skin Care Regime for Jurlique Nutri-Divine
Step 1: Cleansing with Jurlique Nutri-Define Refining Foaming Cleanser (Morning)
Jumped into the shower and with a pea sized amount, managed to not only clean my face, but also spread to my decolettage, arms and underarms. It is super concentrated, a little goes a long way. The first thing I noticed was that it has grains in it, like a mild exfoliating scrub, which I wasn’t expecting but the feeling of the product was very creamy and soft and has a lovely fresh soap smell. It did remove oil and my skin felt super clean afterwards. It is very concentrated so the tiniest amount, less than a pea, cleansed my face and neck thoroughly.
Verdict: after using this cleanser every morning in the shower, but skin was never overly dry or oily and I’d have to say it is one of the nicest cleansers available in this market.
Step 1: Purely Age-Defying Nourishing Cleansing Oil (Bed time)
Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Nourishing Cleansing Oil is as great makeup remover at the end of the day. I’ve used the oil cleanser to remove my makeup and dirt/oil/pollution from the day for years. Oil-based cleansers don’t strip the skin, and are great for removing oil based or waterproof makeup.
I apply Age-Defying Nourishing Cleansing Oil all over my face and massage it into my face on dry skin. A single pump does the job. This emulsifies mascara and other waterproof makeup. I keep a collection of fresh face washers, that I use fresh each time, with warm to hot water squeezed out. I wipe this over my face to remove the oil and makeup, rinse the face washer and repeat twice or three times. It has the effect of removing all makeup, and the face washer slightly exfoliates my skin. I am careful not to scrub however.
Step 2: Spritz/Tone Skin
To soothe my skin after a long day I sprayed a little Rosewater Balancing Mist. I love the smell and the way it leaves me skin feeling.
This is my favourite part of the whole process. It’s relaxing and freshens my skin.
Verdict: I cannot recommend this more highly. There isn’t anything else like this on the market I love so much. It relaxed me as a person so that has the effect of relaxing my face and thus I look prettier!
Step 3: Jurlique Toning and Essence
Toning the skin was drilled into me since the first article I read in Dolly Magazine in 1982 to “cleanser/tone/moisturise”. Using the Activating Water Essence fits in with my routine. I moisten a cotton pad with the product and swoosh it gently over my skin. It smells lightly “herbal”. My skin feels plump and soft.
Verdict: after weeks of using the product my skin’s texture is even and the pH balance seems spot on.
Step 4: Jurlique Nutri-Define Superior Retexturing Facial Serum
This is so concentrated, a little goes a long way. 2 punmps is plenty. The serum absorbs into my skin quickly, visibly tightening my fine lines and large pores. It doesn’t create a film like some serums do, but also doesn’t have the slippery feel of some silicone based serums. .
The serum contains an impressive line up of natural skin enhancers, with a slight hint of mica and titanium dioxide to create a visibly radiant look straightaway as these are light reflective. Ginseng Root Extract and Licorice Root Extract, along with many herbs and plants that are know for their wound healing and skin conditioning properties. The formulation is designed to firm skin, boost the skin’s luminosity for instant soft-focus luminosity and moisture levels, re-texturising the complexion for a radiant, ageless look.
Verdict: My experience is that my skin feels firm but not dry, and after a few weeks the texture of my skin couldn’t be better.
Step 5: Eye Do with Jurlique Nutri-Define Eye Contour Balm $98
I think of all these wonderful products the Jurlique Nutri-Define Eye Contour Balm is my favourite. I really liked the metal ended applicator with its circular top. I felt it calmed my puffiness or tired eyes and this application technique stops me pulling at my delicate under eye skin. A tiny bit goes a long way, and I just smooth it on using the application pictured above. I enjoy that part of the ritual because it feels like I am really doing something good for my skin. I can feel it tightens the skin, but doesn’t leave a film over the under eye area so I can easily apply my beloved Maybelline Age Defying Concealer afterwards (I know, another chemist brand, but it is so good I keep going back to it).
Step 5: Jurlique Nutri-Define Day Moisturiser
This is a perfect, light, day-time moisturiser. It firms skin visibly when you apply and I can still use a makeup primer to stop oiliness and to minimise porer. Normally my day cream leaves my skin a bit greasy so my makeup goes on unevenly, but this leaves the skin slightly “sticky” (in a good way, hard to explain), so you probably don’t need a primer as well under your foundation.
Note: If you read my blog regularly you know I have a love affair with the L’Oreal True Match Foundation in N2 (winter or no fake tan) or N3 (summer or with a fake tan). What you may not know is that I powder it down with the Jurlique Rose Silk Finishing Powder.
This luxurious rose scented powder is finely milled and absorbs oil to help mattify unwanted shine. I use a big fluffy brush in place of the puff for a more diffused look. I don’t like looking cakey, and this allows my skin’s radiance to shine through.
Step 5: Jurlique Nutri-Define Rejuvenating Overnight Cream
After I’ve applied the Jurlique Nutri-Define serum and eye cream I apply a pea sized amount, using the teensy spatular supplied to avoid getting bacterior into the pot. The formulation is extremely concentrated so you don’t need much for you face, neck and decolletage. It is extremely concentrated. It feels quite different to many of the modern night creams. It doesn’t have the slippery texture of silicone based creams, and is rich and “plumping”. My face feels “bouncy” with a slightly oily residue that is nice at night. The smell is pleasant but not overly scented.
When I wake up in the morning my skin is dewy and fresh, without being oily or taut.
After 3 weeks of religious use of Jurlique Nutri-Define?
My skin feels is balanced and smooth, with no dry patches, and not overly oily. My fine lines are less noticable. My under eye area looks quite smooth. Overall I really enjoy this skincare range, eI relish in the process and the ritual of the Nutri-Define collection. I’ve barely touched the sides of the product, so I suspect that these products are going to last forever, which I hope they do as I love them.
The Jurlique Nutri-Define collection is great for women 45 and over, who want an ethical and naturally based range with technologically advanced yet cruelty-free product. It would also make a beautiful gift, since the products are easy to match up to the recipient, and let’s face it, who doesn’t want beautiful skincare for a gift? There are some great kits and special limited edition packs over the holiday season, so be sure to include Jurlique on your list of places to purchase gifts.
