Homes On The Trend: 3 Designs, 3 Key Features
Homes that have a simple style can be just as elegant as those that have depth and structure. An evolution of the Nordic trend has taken place, in the form of a ‘structured simplicity’.

It’s that time of the year where home trends are the talk of the town. The sun is high in the sky, shining brightly on all the homes in your neighbourhood. Maybe you have had a look around at the homes that share your neighbourhood while walking the dog. Have there been some that really stood out to you? It could have been because they are following certain trends that have rapidly risen to the top. We’re going to explore these exciting new designs, by looking at one key feature of each.

A new simplicity

Homes that have a simple style can be just as elegant as those that have depth and structure. An evolution of the Nordic trend has taken place, in the form of a ‘structured simplicity’. The theme is calm, comfortable and above all else a home that is designed to be relaxing. So a monotone color scheme is essential, preferably an ivory, cream or perhaps a light sandy shade. It should also be low-maintenance, so items that are easy to fluff back up once you’ve sat or laid on them are key. Select a cotton and merino mix for your sofa pillow covers, a linen fabric sofa, and a nice wool mix area rug underneath the coffee table. New neutrals are warming, such as oatmeal, so implement them into your living room.

Green living

Green technology has almost become its own home design area. Climate change is very important to many people and so, manufacturers and leading home design services have focussed more on green energy such as Newcastle solar Panels. Solar panels offer an off-grid approach to living. With better battery storage tech to boot, you can store excess solar energy for use during the colder months. Not only can these solar panels save you money, but they can power various other green technologies in your home. A water heater is great for only heating as much hot water as you need as opposed to boilers. It can also be used to grow indoor plants and also vegetables as you can power UV lights for your garden shed.

Broken plan

You’ve heard of the popular open floor plan, but what about the broken plan? This is where an area of the home has a unique shift in either it’s height, accessibility, or some kind of unique style. It breaks up an open floor plan, as one room can be technically on the same floor, yet be higher or lower. Picture your dining room, which is a few steps lower than the kitchen. Not only do you get more privacy, but you build more character in the home. It’s seen as a natural divide. If done correctly, it won’t look out of place as there is still no wall between the living spaces.

These 3 home trends are booming in popularity because they offer something that is finally, different from everything we’ve seen before. Which one are you more likely to experiment with?
