In the same way that you shouldn’t casually ignore the warning signs, you don’t have to break down because your relationship is over. It isn’t. It requires work and plenty of it, but it’s a stumbling block in the way of your ultimate goal. Like all hurdles, you need to find a way to jump over it and leave the obstacle in your rearview mirror. Understanding there is a problem is the first port of call. Calmly and rationally, you can think about your thoughts and emotions and use them to help you decide the next step. The key is not to under or overreact.

Analyze Their Importance

Analyzing what the red flags mean is harder than it sounds. Firstly, it’s tempting to undervalue them and pass them off as insignificant when the consequences are massive. Secondly, it’s tough to rank things in order of meaning. You might never have thought about whether their attitude is toxic and what that means for the future. The only way to do it is to sit down and be truthful. Honesty is the best policy as you have to live with your decision forever. So, if an issue that seems small is bigger than it appears, it needs addressing.

Accepting you have problems is the first step of recovery. Couples hate to admit it because they assume it means the end, but this isn’t true, not if you communicate. There are tons of ways to have a long-lasting, successful relationship, and one of them is to move onto somebody who deserves your love.

You should always work hard at improving your bond. When that’s not an option, it might be time to cut your losses for the sake of your happiness.
