There is nothing more frustrating than looking in the mirror and seeing yet another wrinkle. You could think that it’s just a sign of aging, and you don’t fight it, but what if you look in the mirror, and it’s not just the wrinkles that are increasing, but it’s also so the fact that your skin is losing its glow? You might want to check it’s not one of these problems…
Stress
It’s not something you tend to think of, especially when you’re younger, but stress can have a large role in its elasticity. Stress management is vital, but it’s worth doing this in conjunction with anti-wrinkle treatment. Stress ages you terribly, and while you need to to learn to adopt a more positive attitude, you may find that the stress is more environmental than personal. You could be living somewhere that has a lot of air pollution, low humidity, and a lot of UV exposure. If so, you need to ramp up the antioxidants, but also make sure that you wash your face twice a day to get rid of these pollutant particles. You should also think about getting exercise to enhance circulation, which can help remove toxins from your skin cells.
Dehydration
We need to increase blood flow to the skin. And while a glass of water can solve dehydration in the short-term, we have got to think about drinking up to eight glasses of water a day. We shouldn’t ever go thirsty. And when you are consuming alcohol, you must consider drinking more water to offset the effects of dehydration. By failing to give your skin the hydration it needs, this will cause long-lasting damage. You can get sagging skin, fine lines, but you can also get scales and wrinkles if you are chronically dehydrated. Always carry a water bottle with you!
A Lack Of Sleep!
We know it’s called beauty sleep, and when we don’t get adequate down time, we’re not allowing the body to regenerate and restore. Sleep is the time when your skin cells actively repair themselves. There are creams you can purchase to help you look your best, but you need that optimum 7 to 9 hours sleep a night.
A Bad Diet
We all know we need a good diet for our body, but if we consume an abundance of sugar, salt and processed foods, the skin is undernourished. If you eat processed foods, this will retain more fluids, which hinders light reflection, which swells the tissue. A great diet consists of antioxidant-rich foods, as well as good fats. A lot of people try to stay away from fat, but we have to remember that with good quality fats, this can boost collagen growth, which gives your skin that elasticity. And if you like to have alcohol, go for sulphite free red wine, or if you like liquor, have it neat or on the rocks. Avoid those sugary mixes entirely!
It’s not just about your skincare routine. You have to remember that if you want glowing skin, it’s all about increasing the blood flow and minimising those stresses, so you can live your best life, externally and internally!
