Preparing Your Garden For The Summer Months

Preparing Your Garden For The Summer Months
In the Northern Hemisphere, with summer very much on its way, now is the time to start thinking about getting your garden ready.

A garden is a place people will spend many hours in, especially when it’s getting to summer. It’s so nice to be able to have your friends and family round for a bbq or in the evening to enjoy a cocktail (or two) whilst catching up.

Over the winter months, your garden can take a bit of a battering, with rain and wind damaging your furniture, the grass and the furniture around. However, with summer very much on its way, now is the time to start thinking about getting your garden ready. Whether you want to repaint your fencing or purchase slidetrack outdoor blinds below are four ways to prepare your garden for the summer months.

Prepare For Entertaining

The number one rule when getting your garden ready is to get it ready for entertaining. Start thinking about buying yourself a new BBQ to cook some meals on for your guests. Maybe consider installing some speakers to listen to music outside, or some side tables for people to put their drinks on. Depending on your budget there are a whole variety of things you can purchase to get your garden ready for entertaining. You don’t need to break the bank to make your entertaining garden look put together. Simple accessories can go a long way, such as matching napkins for summer diners in the garden.

Touch Up Your Furniture

If you have been storing your outdoor furniture in the shed, now is the time to start thinking about taking it out and placing it around your garden. It may be that your picnic bench needs a respray, or your chairs need hosing down from the cobwebs that can grow on them. If your furniture is old, there are many budget-friendly options that you could look to purchase. It can be really good fun going out and buying new furniture.

Get Your Garden Back To Shape

It’s now time to start thinking about getting your garden back into its best state. Start by cutting the lawn to make your garden more presentable. Your fencing may need a new lick of paint and so might your shed. If you have a patio/decking you may need to give it a hose down to remove any of the moss or weeds that have grown during the winter months. We would recommend using a jet washer if you have one as this can make the job that much easier.

Planting

Plants are a great way to add colour to your garden and create a new look. Over the winter your plants will have probably taken a hit, requiring you to replace them or give them some TLC. Make sure you visit your local garden centre and see if they have any plants that you would like to purchase. Most will have a whole range of styles for you to choose from.

As well as getting your garden ready, you could also look at freshening up other areas of your property. There are so many home improvement ideas that you can do which will save you money.
