Keeping Your Dream Home Stylishly Secure

Keeping Your Dream Home Stylishly Secure
All too often, home security can make you feel like you’re compromising on your dream aesthetic, but it doesn’t have to be this way. You can have the best of both worlds, with just a few considerations.

Once you’ve found or constructed your dream home, you want to keep it as safe as possible. We don’t like to think about it too much, but the world is full of threats, and your home should feel like it is guarded against anything from thieves to a strong wind. But how can you do this discreetly and stylishly? After all, putting big bars across every window might be your securest option, but it doesn’t look very nice, does it? All too often, home security can make you feel like you’re compromising on your dream aesthetic, but it doesn’t have to be this way. You can have the best of both worlds, with just a few considerations.

Doors

Beautifully designed doors can be a key feature for a home, and yet they are also one of the key places you’ll need to secure. If you want more than just a lock, you could consider reinforcing the areas just around the door lock and the hinges. This will prevent anyone from breaking the lock, whilst keeping the aesthetic of your door overall. They are invisible from the outside, and often these reinforcements can be painted over or disguised on the inside as well, ensuring your entryway remains safe and stylish.

Windows

Windows let sunlight, fresh air and joy into your house – and yet they are also one of its major weak spots. Especially if you live in a hot climate, you’ll want to be able to throw your windows open in summer, so locks that limit movement are out of the question, and no one wants to see bars or grilles across their home windows. Instead, invest in high-quality double glazing, which will also protect against break-ins, and find a lock that works without limiting how far you can open your windows (when you’re in the house, of course!) Another pretty brilliant idea is to plant spiky plants or bushes underneath each window, adding natural beauty to the outside of your home whilst also dissuading any uninvited visitors!

Gates and Fences

The outside of your property is incredibly important to keep secure, as this is the first barrier that any potential intruder will come across. However, it’s also the first impression for any guests, so you don’t necessarily want a looming iron monstrosity facing your property! You can find some gorgeously stylish-yet-secure fences out there, and when it comes to installing an automatic gate for your home or garage, simplicity is often the best way to ensure the best of both worlds.

Security System

Aside from physical security such as locks, gates and reinforced windows, the best way you can keep your home safe is with a digital security system. The best thing about them is that they can be very discreet! The best smart security systems these days can connect to your mobile phone and give you instant updates, so you even know when your mail has been delivered. Keeping an eye on your beloved home has never felt so easy, or so much fun.
