I finally got my hands on the Maybelline Gigi Hadid Jetsetter Palette 1 over the weekend, just before I was due to do makeup, so it was an opportune time to give this palette a test, in a professional setting. I wouldn’t normally do this, but the client was a friend of a friend and she was happy to trial the palette.

The resulting look was as above, and looked beautiful in real life.
Concealer/Foundation Base
I applied the concealer to the under eye area, using the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Concealer in Light, and blended with the Model Co Makeup Blender, slightly damp, to blend the colour under the eyes, and even out any pigmentation.

My bride was 40+ so did have a few early stages of ageing, so I only set the concealer lightly with ELF High Definition Under Eye Setting Powder.

The next step was foundation. Normally if I am using a brush to apply the foundation, I’d apply the concealer afterwards, but with the airbrush I apply concealer first. It’s also a good idea to do any cream contouring under the foundation and go lighter over the contoured areas to allow the shadow to show through. It’s a bit of an art but works really well. I used the Velbella Airbrush, with the Velbella Liquid Foundation in Bella Beige. The result was luminised and dewy, and looked like skin but better.

Because the foundation is slightly wet, I allowed about 10 minutes for it to dry, before applying more non-airbrushed makeup. I used this time to clean my brushes and re-organise my kit on the bench after the previous lady’s makeup.
Cheeks, Highlight and and Contour
My only real gripe with the Maybelline Gigi Hadid Jetsetter palette is the narrow blush which has a super narrow strip. Now I like to use a rounded brush but this sliver of pigment meant I was limited to using the brush provided, which is a bit stiff so picked up too much colour and I had to blow it off the brush before I touched the face with it. Even so, once on the colour was lovely. I used the contour to accentuate the cheek hollows, frame the forehead, slim the jaw and contour the nose, and since my brush for this is narrower I didn’t need to use the supplied brush. The highlight, which is the perfect width for the blush, only needs a little strip, since my highlight brush is a fan brush at the moment. I think they go their palettes back to front. Still as far as the product goes, the colours, texture and end result was lovely and would suit most blondes with blue eyes, but might not be as flattering on deeper skin tones and colouring. I am hoping that Maybelline are planning to do a “set 2” for people of other non-Gigi colouring. Maybe a Bella Palette?
Eyebrows
As there isn’t a brow option in the kit, I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade with my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brush #14 to fill in the browns and make more symmetrical.

Eyes
The eye pans on this palette are 100% fool proof. There is a highlight, lid and contour colour, and the black to use as a soft liner.
The Maybelline Gigi Hadid Jetsetter Palette 1 has the Maybelline Collossal Mascara, which is handy, and, like 99% of Maybelline mascaras is very black and works well with a great brush. Of course when using it on a client, I need to use a disposable wand, so the brush really has no bearing on my evaluation from a pro point of view.
Lips
I used the lip pencil from Paula’s Secrets in Nude, and then applied the third lip colour pan down, which is a peachy nude with a gloss finish. It is a lovely colour and texture, more glossy than matte.
Lastly I set the nose and forehead with the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Silk HD Anti-Aging Micro-Powder to prevent an oily look.

As you can see, the result is very natural, flattering and easy for anyone to use. After having used it, I’m going to keep this palette for my own use, as I have most of these colours in other palettes in my kit, but I personally love the Maybelline Gigi Hadid Jetsetter Palette Set 1. This is a great buy at $44.95 for what you get.
