Summer is fast approaching and chances are you want your garden to be in the best condition possible before the sun arrives.
Then, you can head out and kick back and relax in your own little outdoor haven rather than toiling away trying to rush your gardening in the heat and sun. Seeing as many of us are confined to our houses to slow the spread of coronavirus right now, there really isn’t a better time to get started outback. Gardening could be a good use of your time, helping you to feel productive. It can also be therapeutic, distracting your focus and allowing you to relax and let go of any stresses or worries. So, if this sounds good to you, here are a few different things you can do to get your garden up to scratch as soon as possible!
Cut the Grass
First things first, it’s a good plan to cut the grass. Whether it’s up to your knees and wild, or perhaps just a little too long, trimming it down to a nice height really can make all the difference to how your garden looks. Plus, shorter grass tends to be safer, as debris and sharp objects can’t be hidden in it. You’ll have a good, clear view of where you’re stepping at all times. So, get the lawnmower out and run it around. Just be careful to mind the wire. If you’re struggling with the edges and corners, use a strimmer.
Pull Weeds in Your Garden
Weeds are a gardener’s arch-nemesis. They sprout up everywhere you don’t want to be. If you find that you have weeds, make sure to pull them up properly, get them from the root and pull the whole root out. You may also want to use weed killer to help.
Check Your Fence Panels
You want your garden to have a secure perimeter, especially if you have kids or pets. So, check your fence panels. If you notice any problems – perhaps cracks, holes or panels falling over – make sure to call in professionals who can fit new fence palings and put wrongs to rights. If you’re feeling creative, you may even want to paint your fences. You could choose a neutral varnish, or paint them a nice colour.
Dig Flower Beds In Your Garden
Flower beds are a nice addition to any garden. The best part? They’re not all too hard to create. You just have to dig up the beds and put some kind of edging around them to separate them from the grass in your garden. Put some compost down and plant whatever plants will thrive at this time of year.
Getting your garden in shape will take some work, but it will be more than worth the results at the end. As the saying goes, you reap what you sow! Hopefully, the above advice will help you to get the results you want!
