Going to the beach as a family is a wonderful thing; it’s the kind of trip that can make the most beautiful memories. In order to make the most of your day out or your vacation, there are many more things you can do than simply splash about in the sea and make sandcastles. Here are some ideas of fun things to do at the beach.

Clean It Up

Teaching your kids about how to look after the world and be environmentally friendly is a great thing to do, and there are few better places to do it than at the beach. We’re not saying you need to spend your entire day picking up other people’s litter, but just a few minutes can make a difference. You’ll need to supervise to ensure that your children don’t pick up anything they shouldn’t because a nasty injury requiring a first-rate personal injury law firm wouldn’t be ideal, but if everyone has a bag and some disposable gloves, you could even make it a competition to see who picks up the most trash.

Use A Float Tube

Purchasing a float tube to take to the beach can make a good day super fun. It’s a great way of playing in the waves, and even the most nervous of paddlers can enjoy the water this way. All Mom or Dad needs to do is go into the water and hold onto the tube while the kids sit on it and let the waves do their thing. It’s fun for the little ones, and it’s good exercise for the parents! There are many different types of float tubes around, so it’s best to check out which one will suit you online before making a purchase.

Paint Shells And Pebbles

Remember to pack some marker pens (Sharpies are perfect) in your beach bag so that when you get there, you can find some nice, smooth shells and pebbles or rocks to decorate. Paint and color them in whatever designs come to mind – it could take many hours and even keep everyone occupied all day. Some people then hide these treasures for other families to find, or you could take them home as souvenirs of a fabulous day out.

Dig A Big Hole

Another great one for the competitive members of the family, the dig a hole game is all about who can dig the deepest hole in the shortest amount of time. You can run heats until you have an overall winner, or you can just enjoy the fun and enjoyment that it brings. In fact, why not add other games to this one so that you can have a day full of competition – a limbo contest, Simon Says, even sand Pictionary can all be part of the lineup.

Search For Wild Animals

The beach is the ideal place to learn more about the animals that live out in the wild. You can make the beach your own personal classroom, discussing the different creatures and their habitats. Do some research before you get to the beach so that you can answer the questions that are bound to come up, and you’ll be teaching your kids some helpful information.

Take a stroll down the beach, pausing to examine any aquatic life, tidal pools, or plants you come across. It’s an excellent chance for a marine lesson (and you can all investigate whatever you don’t know at home together).

Build The Ultimate Sand Castle

This isn’t your typical sand castle composed of sand, water, and shells. The ultimate sandcastle is often an activity in which everyone at the beach participates, making it even more fun.

Look around your home and yard for natural things that you could use to make a sandcastle before going to the beach. Decorations include sticks, pinecones, tiny stones, and flowers. Bring along not just sand pails for the construction, but also plastic bowls for domes, cups for trivets, and spoons for smoothing architectural details. Find gorgeous shells, sea glass, and driftwood from the beach to add further detail to your castle.

Create the perfect sandcastle, complete with a city, canals, and stunning ornaments. Don’t be shocked if other youngsters at the beach band together to help you!

Have A Picnic

Depending on where you are, there may be beach kiosks where you can get food and refreshments. On a nice day, though, an old-fashioned picnic by the beach is not a terrible idea – in fact, it’s something that everyone will love.

Pack a picnic basket with sandwiches, beverages, and snacks. Set down a blanket on the beach and take in the scenery as you dine and recharge. Because you’ve packed your own food, you’ll know exactly what’s gone into making it, ensuring you’re eating well while you’re having fun.
