Foreo Luna™ Mini 2 versus Clarisonic Mia 2

Foreo Luna Mini 2

In the search for a youthful, radiant complexion, I was looking for a facial cleansing device, that would help keep my skin in balance whilst enhancing smoothness and eradicating dead skin and increase blood flow to the skin, promoting cellular turnover. I saw both the Foreo Luna Mini 2 and the Clarisonic Mia 2. Both were the less expensive or mini versions of their “big sister” products.

Price-wise the Foreo Luna Mini 2 comes in at $179 AUD and the Clarisonic Mia 2 is a little more expensive at $219 AUD.

From a convenience point of the I prefer the Foreo Luna Mini 2 as it is more compact, dries more quickly, is stored more easily and the charger cable is simply a USB cable that I can charge using my laptop overnight and the charge lasts and lasts more several weeks. The Clarisonic Mia 2 is a little more cumbersome, requiring bench space inthe bathroom and needs time to dry. The cable is more like an electric toothbrush, so while still small, the Clarisonic Mia 2 needs storage for the larger cable and the product itself. Due to my limited bench space this would send me in the direction of the Foreo Luna Mini 2.

As far as the way in which the product works, the Clarisonic Mia 2 is more exfoliating, and a little rougher on delicate skin, but it does smooth the skin extremely well, leaving the skin radiant and receptive to masks and serums. I would however be careful using this too often or with very sensitive skin as it does feel as if it may be irritating. I get rashes quite easily however, and it wasn’t an issue for me. I did feel very fresh afterwards. I used a foaming cleanser with the product so it was smooth over the skin. This is great for over oily skin, but you would need to be careful with dry skin.

The Foreo Luna Mini 2 was gentler and helped relax my facial muscles with the vibration, and while not as exfoliating, my skin felt stimulated and very clean afterwards. I used it with a cleansing oil over a foaming cleanser so it didn’t strip my skin’s natural oils completely. I use a hot face washer afterwards to remove the oil cleanser.

In appearance and design I like both, but do prefer the Luna Mini 2. The Foreo Luna Mini 2 is super cute, looks modern and comes in the range of fun colours. The Clarisonic Mia 2 comes in white and pink and has an hourglass shape that fits the had easily. Both can be used in the shower or bath if needed.

Overall I think the Foreo Luna Mini 2 is my pick when my skin was sensitive and/or dry in patches, as it is gentle and doesn’t need to be used with a foaming cleanser. The Clarisonic Mia 2 is good for skin that is oily and blackhead prone, due to the fact that it is more exfoliating and used with a foaming cleanser. If I had to choose, I’d go with the Foreo Luna Mini 2, due to my sensitive skin, price point, storage and appearance, but if I was prone to oily skin with blocked pores, had more real estate on the bathroom cabinet with a bigger budget, I’d get the Clarisonic Mia 2.
